Rob made this picture frame earring holder for me. We saw something similar at a farmers market/craft show.  One pane is glass, the rest is screen for wire earrings.

Federal Way Sand Champs!

Yes, yet another sand sculpture contest!   This one by the pros!  Year ago (2000) I went to a sand sculpture contest up in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia.  The sculptures there were absolutely amazing and it must have spoiled me, because I've been expecting to see the same results since.  But I haven't.  The sculptures in Long Beach and Olympia were impressive, but not of the same caliber.  But these in Federal Way were.  And for good reason.  Turns out that they "paved paradise and put up a parking lot" in Harrison Hot Spring.....at least they seemed to have built a resort where the sand contest used to be held.  They have been looking for a permanent venue ever since.  Federal Way is where they were holding it this year.  Excellent!!

Sand & Garlic

Recently we took a road trip south to Olympia to see the Sand in the City.   That's where they build sand sculptures downtown. This was part of the Children's Museum.  It was a great day and a lot of fun.  Olympia also has a great Farmer's Market where we got an absolutely fabulous stick of smoked cheddar cheese.  Yum!

After Olympia we headed just a bit farther south to Chehalis to the Garlic Festival!  This was okay.  I just don't understand having to pay admission when, once inside, you have to pay for everything else (crafts, food, beer).  The only thing you don't have to pay extra for is the entertainment, which was a live band (Ben Miller?).  We had Garlic Beer (yum!), a garlic brat & deep friend garlic (okay), and garlic ice cream (eh).

During the drive using my smartphone I discovered a nearby attraction- a steam train ride!  So after the festival we dashed to the train station, hoping to catch the 3 o'clock train.  Unfortunately many other festival go'ers had the same idea and the seats were sold out.  One lady exclaimed she came all the way from Tacoma (an hour drive).  I could have exclaimed that I came all the way from Whidbey Island (a 3 hour drive) but I didn't   (:

Snoqualmie Railroad Days

Yesterday we headed to Snoqualmie Railroad Days and had a blast.  Rode the old train, took a wagon ride, sweated in the heat, and stood in front of the "Twin Peaks Sheriffs Office"!!

London Email Hack Scam

Since my life is soooooo exciting!  Panic struck and I deleted my last account after my email got hacked by a bastard Nigerian.   Using my email, they wrote to all my contacts that I was in London, got bashed on the back of the neck, and needed money.   One of my alternate email addresses happened to be a "contact", so here is the email they sent:

Hi,

Just writing to let you know our trip to London,England it has been a mess. We were having a great time until last night when we got mugged and lost all our cash, credit card cell phone. It has been a scary experience, I was hit at the back of my neck with a pistol. Anyway,I'm still alive and that's what's important. I'm financially strapped right now and need your help.

As we speak i need $1,500 to add up and sort my bills, don't worry i will def refund it as soon as we get home, the fastest and safest means you can get money to me is via western union,Here's my info:

Name: Kathleen F
Location:  19-20 Great Sutton St
London EC1V 0DR, UK

As soon as it is done, kindly get back to me with the confirmation number. Let me know when you are heading to the western union now
Kathy

Isn't that nice?  And then they not only changed my password, but changed my Password Recovery information.  When I was finally able to access my account, EVERYTHING had been deleted.  I thought all was good, until a friend told me that my email was still going to a "ymail" address instead of a "gmail" address!  Wtf??  So, I said to heck with it and deleted my account.  Yes, It was probably a bit unnecessary to do so, especially since I deleted my entire account, not just my gmail, and my entire account included a blog that I had had since 2004.   Que Sera.

Here is a great webpage on how to Recover a Hacked or Compromised gmail account (that I of course found after the fact):

How to Recover a Hacked or Compromised Gmail Account

Before I deleted my account, the "Last Account Activity" had shown that my account was accessed several times from Nigeria.  Indeed, my friend responded to the plea, and the Nigerians actually wrote back something along the lines of "any luck with that wire transfer?"   Honestly, can you believe it?  Horrible!  I don't know what happened, but  I have since ran 5000 virus scans and changed ALL my passwords.  Let this be a lesson to you!
